WE were/ARE

A film by Lorenzo Minoli

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO LIVE, NOT MERELY EXIST?

That universal question is the heartbeat of this film, the answers powerful and poignant. WE were ARE is an exploration of the human experience, the journey of aging and the enduring legacy of the human spirit.

Through intimate stories from residents of Newburyport, Massachusetts and surrounds, this 80-minute feature explores how resilience, adapting to change, hope, optimism and the pursuit of fulfillment, define the quality of life, especially in the later chapters of our lives.

The film centers on the City of Newburyport Senior Community Center, a place where lives, often assumed to be in their twilight, are reignited with purpose, connection and renewed dignity. WE were ARE is not a story of decline or disappearance; instead it is one of continually becoming.

WE were ARE a documentary written and directed by three-time nominated and Prime Time Emmy Award winning producer, photographer, writer, journalist and Italian-born documentarian Lorenzo Minoli.
