Marcela Gaviria
I am a journalist and filmmaker with Rain Media based in the Catskills. Over the past two decades I have produced over 50 hours of programming for FRONTLINE (PBS), covering the rise of Al Qaeda, the wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria, the culture of risk taking on Wall Street, America’s heroin epidemic, and the crackdown on undocumented immigrants under the Trump Administration.

“HAQQANI” (w.t.) is the first film to go inside the world of Afghanistan’s most powerful man– Sirajuddin Haqqani– with sustained, on-the-record access — secured by award-winning FRONTLINE correspondent and producer Martin Smith — to Haqqani himself, his commanders, and the fighters-turned-ministers who now run Kabul’s institutions. The film will trace Haqqani’s ascent from battlefield legend to head of state security. The film will include accounts from his critics and families of victims as well.
