The Limits of Truth

A film by Zeva Oelbaum

H.R. Knickerbocker, a Pulitzer prize-winning journalist reporting from Berlin, was the first to warn that Hitler posed a grave threat to democracy. Knickerbocker’s writings appeared in articles, books and even millions of leaflets dropped over Germany. All the while, he was engaged in a personal battle with top Nazi Joseph Goebbels.

Newly unearthed home movies and private diaries of Knickerbocker’s capture a never-before-seen chronicle of Germany and its chilling descent into dictatorship as Hitler rises.

Can his unheeded warnings from the 1930s hold a mirror up to our own time?
