Jamil Simon is an award-winning producer and director of documentary films and educational media. His documentaries have covered a wide range of subjects and have been broadcast on PBS and commercial TV stations and have been screened in schools, colleges and other venues.
In addition, he has worked in 12 countries in Africa creating and implementing public-awareness programs to promote environmental, and social reform in developing countries. He recently produced, directed, and shot several award-winning videos in the Central African Republic for USAID to promote a new methodology for registering property rights for artisanal diamond miners.
Currently Jamil is in production of FRAGILE ISLAND OF PEACE, a documentary that will focus on the peace building process in Burundi. He believes something powerful happened in the process of training 8,000 leaders in mediation skills in this tiny impoverished nation, sandwiched between Rwanda and the DRC, and that it is a story that deserves to be told.
