Biography

In 2019 Tani Cohen launched team 713 entertainment, a production and management company in partnership with veteran acquisitions and distribution executive, Bobby Rock.  Their producing credits include HELLCAT directed by Fax Bahr and Miu Miu Woman’s Tale, SHANGRI-LA directed by Isabel Sandoval.  Prior to this Cohen prodcued the feature films, LOVE & DEBT starring Tom Cavanagh and Bellamy Young and NO PAY, NUDITY starring Gabriel Byrne, Nathan Lane and Frances Conroy. 

Cohen produced, along with CC Goldwater, Sheila Nevins and Nancy Abraham, the HBO, Emmy nominated documentary, MR CONSERVATIVE: GOLDWATER ON GOLDWATER.

Prior to this, Cohen produced the MGM released feature film THE DUST FACTORY starring Hayden Panettiere, Armin Mueller-Stahl and Ryan Kelley.  

Cohen received an Emmy nomination for executive-producing the Showtime Original feature film, SNOW IN AUGUST, starring Stephen Rea.  Pete Hamill’s novel was adapted by Richard Friedenberg, who also directed.

Many major festivals have recognized Cohen’s work as an independent film producer and three of her projects have screened in competition at the Sundance Film Festival: INSIDE MONKEY ZETTERLAND starring Patricia Arquette, Sandra Bernhard, Sofia Coppola, Rupert Everett, Martha Plimpton, Ricki Lake, Debi Mazar and Katherine Helmond; EGG SALAD starring Helen Shaver; and GUINEVERE starring Stephen Rea and Sarah Polley.

 Among Cohen’s additional producing credits are THE SOULER OPPOSITE starring Christopher Meloni and Janel Moloney; HOW TO KILL YOUR NEIGHBOR’S DOG starring Kenneth Branagh and Robin Wright; FOREVER LULU starring Patrick Swayze and Melanie Griffith and Jean Claude Van Damme’s REPLICANT. 

Cohen produced the pilots, SEPTUPLETS and AN AMERICAN TOWN for 20th Century Fox Television

Cohen started her film career at Brian de Palma’s Fetch Productions. The feature films SCARFACE, BODY DOUBLE and WISE GUYS were produced during her tenure. She was also a production executive at the independent film company MMA at which time she oversaw production on the feature CHATTAHOOCHEE directed by Mick Jackson and starring Gary Oldman, Dennis Hopper and Frances McDormand.

A native of Coronado, California, Cohen currently sits on the board of the screenwriting-mentorship organization, CineStory Foundation and is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University.
