Biography

I got my start in the music industry, working for recording studios and traveling the country in a remote truck recording concert albums for B.B. King, Joan Armatrading, The Hank Jones Trio and Sha Na Na. Many live concerts for The King Biscuit Flower Hour including Roxy Music, Steve Forbert, Canned Heat, McGuinn Clark and Hillman and Aerosmith.

Later I segued into production sound (location sound recording) for film and video. For 30 years my career in production sound gave me the opportunity to work on commercials for big named companies such as McDonalds and Ocean Spray, production sound on the Oscar nominated documentary “On Tip Toe” a film about Ladysmith Black Mambazo, the African singers that backed up Paul Simon on his Graceland album, “The War” by Ken Burns, “Road to Reconciliation” about the struggles in Northern Ireland, All these experiences have given me a unique perspective on the perception of sound mixing and I hope to pass that experience to my clients

I started Creative Audio Works 15 years ago after seeing there was a need to preserve recordings from the past. I’ve worked on so many different projects that I’m very proud of, but bringing back the past for people has been far more rewarding than I ever thought it would be. In recent years I have been providing sound editing and mixing services (mix-to-pix) to independent filmmakers looking for a need for lower-cost solutions for the audio needs.
