Biography

Rani Sitaram: Producer / WriternRani Sitaram is the co-founder of East Coast Media / Movietech. She heads up the OpenAirTV Channel giving a voice to the Disability Sector, Human Rights and Gender Equity. Rani is involved media industry redress and development since South African democracy, lobbying to government creating change and access for the previously disadvantaged. She project managed the first integrated Film and Television Production Learnership for Learners with Disabilities providing education to marginalized sectors.  In 2005 Rani produced the Feature Film Comedy “I wish I was in Jail”. The first South African film to be produced with an all-black crew. Since then Rani has written and produced over 10 documentaries, short films, television commercials. Rani is writer / producer on the feature film Greytown Girl and has her Masters from Netherlands being a NUFFIC Fellow. Rani was twice nominated Woman of the Year and won Cosmopolitans Awesome Woman Award.
