Blackbird: Legacy of Innovation (2018)

Role: Producer

“Blackbird: Legacy of Innovation” chronicles the development of the SR-71 Blackbird strategic reconnaissance aircraft, an icon of aviation history that fundamentally changed aerospace design and dynamics. The SR-71 was designed and built in the 1960s as a classified military project by Lockheed Martin’s Advanced Development Projects team (nicknamed the “Skunk Works” division), and to this day it remains the world’s fastest and highest flying aircraft. The one-hour documentary charts the establishment of the acclaimed Skunk Works group under Clarence L. “Kelly” Johnson, and examines the challenges and breakthroughs encountered while working on the Blackbird design. The engineering team had to not only figure out a plane material that could handle the extreme temperatures generated by airflow friction at such a high speed, but also develop an engine that could provide the necessary thrust. The story of the SR-71 is also placed within the larger history of the CIA reconnaissance program during the Cold War.  Aired VPM PBS 2018 and continues through American Public Television.   Emmy-winner.

Aged Out : Finding Home (2019)

Role: Producer/ Director

Virginia is currently 49th in the nation for support services provided to foster care children who are not adopted and therefore age out of the Virginia’s foster care system. Often these youth are sent into the world with nothing — no reliable housing, no job options, and no supportive relationships. They are not prepared for, nor are able to be, contributable members of society because they have moved from foster home to foster home, school to school, an average of five times over the course of their childhood. Aged Out: Finding Home is a peek into the lives of youth who were in “The Possibilities Project” from September 2018 – December 2019. “The Possibilities Project” (now called My Path Forward) is a privately funded program for youth ages 18-25 who have aged out of the traditional foster care system in Virginia. Aired VPM PBS in January 2020.
