Biography

 

An award winning veteran of the Visual Effects and Animation industry, Mauricio has extensive experience creating complex visual effects and character animation for feature, commercial and educational films. Known to his colleagues as Mauchi, he has worked tentpole features including The Matrix, Jurassic Park, Hellboy and Terminator  franchises. His 24 feature film credits also include work on Star Trek: Into Darkness, The Lone Ranger, and Flight.

At the invitation of Lisa Henson his stop motion short film Cicada Princess opened at the 2015 Henson Film Festival. Narrated by Stephen Fry, the film has played the festival circuit around the world and taken home many prestigious awards. Mauricio feels at home working in both traditional and digital mediums, marrying old and new technologies in service to his unique vision.

Born in London, he is currently a resident of Berkeley, California where he is closely involved with raising his two sons and doing his best to make a positive impact on people’s lives through the arresting beauty of moving images.
