Biography
I was a documentary filmmaker in the 1980s, and was lucky enough to work for Bill Jersey, Judy Montell, and others. I then went to work in HIV/STD policy and prevention for the next 35 years. I’ve now retired, and have been translating and also making a documentary, “Looking for Mr. Israeli.” Yossi Israeli (his real name) was featured in a special issue of Life Magazine in 1973. He was portrayed as the symbol of the optimistic, modern, ambitious Israel of the time. The movie documents my tracking him down fifty years later, and how his life forever changed just months after the article was published.
I also served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Jewish Film Festival for 20 years, and Frameline for two.
