FC member Debbie Wright was working in the pharmaceutical industry in Pennsylvania when the reality of modern-day slavery in America hit very close to home.  The FBI descended upon her neighbor’s house, finding thousands of pornographic images, many of which were of children being brutalized and raped. Debbie simply could not stand by and do nothing.  Her passion to raise awareness about trafficking and slavery lead her to the completion of her FIRST feature-length documentary, From Liberty to Captivity.

With Filmmakers Collaborative as a fiscal sponsor—and with no prior fundraising experience—Debbie managed to raise close to $550,000 in individual donations and $120,000 from foundations to producer her film. She is considering various distribution options and is now traveling around with her film as she continues to raise additional funding.

Debbie will present a workshop on how she went from went from a passionate idea to a successful fundraising/filmmaking adventure
