			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Congratulations to <strong>Beth Murphy </strong>for winning the $10,000 Fledgling Fund for Social Conscious Documentaries for her new project <strong>The Promise of Freedom</strong> at the IFP&#8217;s Independent Film Week.</p>
<p>The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded a development grant of $75,000 as part of the &#8220;We the People&#8221; initiative for <strong>Tracy Strain&#8217;s Lorraine Hansberry Documentary Project.</strong></p>
<p>The National Endowment for the Humanities has awarded the following two FC projects $70,000 scripting grants: <em><a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/films/cash-the-documentary/"><strong>Cash: The Documentary</strong></a>,</em> the true story of Johnny Cash produced by <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/filmmakers/kathryn-dietz/"><strong>Kathryn Dietz</strong></a> and Ambrica Productions, and <em><strong>The Big Show in Bololand</strong>,</em> a documentary about the work of the American Relief Administration to combat starvation in the new Soviet Russia from 1921-23 produced by <strong>Austin Hoyt.</strong></p>
<p>The National Endowment for the Arts has awarded <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/films/joe-papp/"><em>Joe Papp in Five Acts</em>,</a> produced by <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/filmmakers/tracie-holder">Tracie Holder</a>, a $50,000 post-production grant and <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/films/louisa-may-alcott/"><em>Louisa May Alcott: The Woman Behind </em><em>Little Women</em>,</a> produced by <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/filmmakers/nancy-porter/">Nancy Porter</a> and Harriet Reisen, a $10,000 post-production grant.</p>
<p>Two FC projects have been awarded ITVS grants for their documentary film projects. <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/filmmakers/maria-agui-carter/">Maria Agui Carter</a> received a $150,000 grant for her film, <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/films/rebel/"><em>Rebel</em></a>, about a Cuban woman who disguised herself as a man to fight in the Civil War. <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/filmmakers/michal-goldman/">Michal Goldman</a> was awarded $110,000 for <a href="http://filmmakerscollab.org/films/at-home-in-utopia/"><em>At Home in Utopia</em></a>, a documentary about a grass-roots and member-driven Jewish labor housing cooperative in the Bronx, founded in the 1920s.
