Massachusetts Communities Film Screening & Discussion Series

images_07-1.jpgIn Fall 2004 Filmmakers Collaborative expanded our Film Talks program through a statewide community-themed screening and discussion series called Massachusetts Communities. Through five different films, the program addressed an issue confronting some of the most challenged cities and towns in Massachusetts — Fall River, Springfield, Lynn, Dorchester, and North Adams – and featured films about other Commonwealth communities’ successful approaches to similar problems. Each screening brought together scholars, filmmakers, and community members profiled in the films for a panel discussion with the audience members about the role of community in effecting positive change. In the process, Massachusetts Communities provoked exploration, education, and inspiration, encouraging audience members to learn from the successes of their fellow citizens to build and strengthen their own communities.
