Christian Chapra is a narrative and experimental filmmaker, based in Waltham, Massachusetts. His journey began in New York City. His family moved away when he was 2 years old. Because of his father’s work, Christian grew up in many places: Ann Arbor, Michigan; College Station, Texas; Boulder, Colorado; with frequent trips to New York City in between. His cinematic education began when a high school friend recommended several classic Hollywood films to watch. A year later, he had drained his public library of videos. He enrolled at the University of Colorado at Boulder, for Film Studies. He was very fortunate to have such luminaries as Stan Brakhage, Marian Keane, and Bruce Kawin as mentors. His financial circumstances forced him to put any thoughts of filmmaking on hold for 14 years.
Then came a second chance, at Boston University Center for Digital Imaging Arts. Armed with all the skills of digital filmmaking, he completed his final student short film, “The Wardens”, in 2012. This short made its festival debut at The London International Filmmaker’s Festival; where the feature length version of “The Wardens”, now entitled “Moving On”, won Best Unproduced Drama Script.
