Competitive Fees
Fees vary from organization to organization and in some cases may be 10% of the contribution.
Other fiscal sponsors claim they are among the lowest. FC fees are in fact among the lowest in the industry at 5%.

Fiscal Independence
Filmmakers open their own checking account at Cambridge Trust Company. Contributions received at the FC office for your project are deposited directly into your checking account, minus the fiscal fee. The funds are usually available to filmmakers in three business days. This way, filmmakers can directly pay their vendors and keep track of their own accounting.

24-hour Service
• FC members have the option to check their bank accounts online any time of day or night.
• FC allows for individuals, companies or foundations to donate directly to your film through the FC website via Paypal.

Tax-Exempt Status
Because FC is a non-profit organization, items and supplies paid for with FC checks are not subject to sales tax.

1099 Forms
FC handles the 1099 forms for all independent contractors paid for with an FC check.

Workers compensation insurance coverage
FC maintains a workers compensation insurance policy and pays the annual cost up-front for all film projects. At the end of the calendar year, the executive director will calculate the cost of WC insurance for each film project and bill accordingly.

Foundation Directory Online
FC subscribes to the Foundation Center’s online directory which lists 77,000 grantmakers, public charities and direct giving programs, plus grantees. All members have access to this website.

FC Google Group
Here you will find frequently needed forms online and the capacity to ask questions and talk with other filmmakers. This is a secure invitation-only online group.

Individual Consultations
FC staff can discuss fundraising, treatments, budgets and distribution with you. And being in a collaborative means having the expertise of many other filmmakers at your fingertips. FC members are welcome to come to the office to look through sample proposals, treatments, and budgets from FC projects and to view completed films or to borrow books.

Feedback on Work
FC offers members the opportunity to show a demo reel, rough cut, or fine cut to the group or to get feedback on a treatment or proposal.

Discounts at workshops
FC members benefit from a discounted rate at all of the larger conferences we sponsor, such as our annual Making Media Now conferences.

FC Website
FC maintains a web site where members’ projects and bios are described with the opportunity for online donations. FC also publicizes upcoming screenings and events on its website.
