A woman, as narrator, speaks in voice-over from an original script of the conflicting emotions and insights that crowd her thoughts as she nears certain death. Moving images stream by in the film depicting the different realities she experiences and envisions along the way.
The animation reflects these different realities through the use of different styles and techniques. The film moves back and forth in time as well. At one point she remembers her girlhood vision of heaven. This becomes a psychedelic dream world of bizarre yet welcoming characters found at the top of an enormous staircase. This in turn is contrasted by a vision of death as a black void populated by the floating outlines of garments once worn by the living.
These wild visions are all framed by the gravity of her present situation. As each dream sequence plays out there is always something, a sound or bit of conversation that pulls her back to reality and back to the car as it moves forward, unflinchingly carrying her to her final destination.
