Rum: The True American Spirit will break through the logjam of forgotten facts, bringing to television for the first time, the true role of rum in American History.

Recently published books have shed light on rum’s dramatic history revealing its significance to early global trade and the American Revolution.

Rum provides an accessible perspective on Colonial American history, particularly events and issues surrounding the American Revolution.

The film will cover global trade, colonial politics, and 18th century societal customs. At the core of the story, is the taxation of rum, and its ingredients, as a cause for the fight for independence. In the periphery, is the moral conflict of men fighting for liberty as a birthright, who also traded rum for slaves.

By examining these issues, the film will cast a clearer light on the birth of our nation.
