Remembering the Civil War (working title) is the first documentary to examine the legacy and memory of the greatest conflict in American history.  Nearly 150 years since its conclusion, the Civil War can still strike deep chords in the national psyche and evoke heated debate over flying images-3.jpegthe Confederate flag at the Charleston statehouse to realize that issues like sectional reunion and racial reconciliation are still relevant today.

Remembering the Civil War traces the history of Civil War memory from 1865 to the present day, demonstrating that history is not the sole domain of textbooks and professional historians.  Its messages and meanings are filtered down through rituals, monuments, cemeteries, political speeches, reenactments, movies, preserved battlefields and countless other forms of commemoration.
