Mary Canning
Mary Canning has worked in documentary research and production at WGBH for over a decade, beginning with four years on staff at FRONTLINE and as an associate producer of four award-winning NOVA films: Everest, The Death Zone, Avalanche!, Warnings from the Ice and Volcanoes of the Deep. Ms. Canning was also the associate producer of a World History educational project for the WGBH Interactive Department.
The last few years, Ms. Canning worked as the staff “Special Projects” Producer at WGBH Local Productions, responsible for a variety of initiatives including the Viewpoint Independent Film showcase and Indie Select. Mary also produced two documentaries profiling urban teens & teachers for WGBH Eye on Education, and a TV pilot for the NPR syndicated show, “Says You!”
Ms. Canning has developed social justice and environmental films at Interlock Media, as well as an independent film project following a cancer struck physician’s intimate — and spiritually transforming — experience with terminal illness and dying.
