Dagmar Kamlah

dk FR05In 2009 Dagmar completed the personal documentary BLUE JAY TERRITORY (65 min) about her relocation to the United States. Dagmar’s last endeavor in Germany was curating a program about work (“Feierabend!”, 2007 in Braunschweig) as part of the statewide series “Work in progress,” initiated by Freunde der deutschen Kinemathek (www.fdk-berlin.de/work-in-progress).

In her professional career she has switched mostly between working as editor/assistant and directing her own film projects since the mid 80’s. During the last decade she also focused on programming (Kommunales Kino Freiburg). From 2003-4 she was employed as cultural manager of the NGO Südwind Freiburg e.V., where she conceptualized and realized a large variety of cultural events.

As co-editor, Dagmar contributed to CONSPIRATORS by Paul Meyer in 2005, a long feature documentary on women in the Polish home army during the German occupation (www.absolutmedien.de). In 2001-2 she worked as news editor for SWR-Studio Freiburg, after being active mostly as a sound editor in Hamburg 1996-99.

Dagmar received her MA in German Literature/Philosophy in 1982, Philipps University Marburg.
