MEDAL QUEST: American Athletes and the Paralympic Games is live at pbs.org/wgbh/medal-quest, and on Facebook and Twitter. There are still a few glitches, but early visitors are great. Please come share the stories of these amazing athletes as they prepare for the London Games, “like them” on FB, link and re-post, comment and enjoy. They’ll have new videos and posts every day or so, so come back often and join the conversation. And spread the word as widely as you can — starting a new project is always a scramble, and they appreciate all your help!

FC Filmmaker Natasha Lance Rogoff‘s KickinKitchen.TV went live yesterday on NYC TV channel 25 and in New York City Taxi Cabs! And….they launched an exciting contest with NFL superstar Greg Jennings, where kids can enter our Healthy Football Snack Challenge.

They are so excited to share KickinKitchen.TV, and hope you are, too. Spread the word!

Programmed by Josetxo Cerdán, the 2012 Seminar is entitled “Open Wounds”, and will look at changing perspectives on politics, the economy, technology, culture, and ethics over the past century, and explore how filmmakers contribute to new ways of seeing the world based on their own heritage.

The LEF Fellowship covers the filmmaker’s entire registration fee (including room, board and special events) to the Seminar, which will take place at Colgate University from June 16-22 in Hamilton, NY.

The application deadline is Thursday, March 1.

FC board member María Agui Carter presented a sneak preview of her new film Rebel at the American Latino Heritage Forum being hosted by the White House and the U.S. Department of the Interior.

President Barak Obama delivered remarks and guests included Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, Members of Congress, Latino community leaders from across the country during this Hispanic Heritage month event celebrating the contributions of American Latinos who have helped
shape America’s rich and diverse history.

Rebel, is a film about a Latina woman soldier who fought in one of the most pivotal events of
American history – the American Civil War.

Barry Yeoman and Richard Ziglar have been hired by KRVS-FM in Lafayette, La., to produce a series of radio reports for Louisiana Public Broadcasting’s GulfWatch project (http://www.publicmediaexchange.org).

The project is funded by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the grant has been distributed to 10 public radio and TV stations in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. These stations will be sharing stories and other resources.

Congratulations to FC Member Yasha Aginsky from California, who has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts for his film “Travels with Mike,” about the music and life of Mike Seeger.
