About Us
Filmmakers Collaborative (FC) was founded in 1986 to provide fiscal sponsorship to independent filmmakers all over the country. Our mission is to sponsor and support independent media projects, to offer educational and networking opportunities to a wide range of media makers, and to use media to educate the public about relevant issues and the filmmaking process.
Filmmakers Collaborative has gained a strong reputation for fiscal and artistic integrity and has sponsored more than 150 projects nationwide. FC is committed to the production of films that address social justice, cultural, racial, historical, global, and artistic issues that reflect the diversity of the community and world around us (see Our Films – add link). We have administered over $15 million in grants from such national funders as the
National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and the Ford Foundation, as well as local funders like the Massachusetts Foundation for the Humanities, the LEF Foundation and others.
FC films are frequently featured in festivals and on signature PBS programs such as NOVA, American Experience, and Frontline. FC gives filmmakers creative and financial autonomy while providing a collaborative environment in which to exchange ideas and collaborate on projects.
